About Sondagio

Every election, one average, one map, one source. Then we let you go.

What Sondagio is

Sondagio publishes poll averages, election maps, seat projections and results for elections around the world, in the language of each country. One page per election answers the question you came with (who leads, by how much, who could govern) and links every number to where it came from.

Why it exists

Polls contradict each other, and headlines pick the one that tells the best story. An average of every published poll, built the same way for every party, is calmer and usually closer to the result. We show it plainly, with the spread between pollsters, so one surprising poll doesn't look like a landslide.

How Sondagio is different

  • Every number has a source. Each poll links to its original release; each result to the electoral authority.
  • One method for everyone. The same rules for every party and candidate, published on the method page. Estimates are always labelled as estimates.
  • No side. Sondagio works for no party, campaign or candidate, and never asks for your political views. You can follow elections, not parties.
  • The law comes first. Where a country bans publishing polls before a vote, our pages freeze for that period.
  • Mistakes are corrected in the open, with the date of the change.

Founder

Kevin Veitia founded Sondagio, and nwsly before it, to make following the news and elections calmer: the essentials, sourced, then the screen goes dark.

How it works

Polls are collected from published releases, most often through the compilations on Wikipedia, which link to each original. A script rebuilds the averages every day and checks them before they go live. Maps use official results and open boundary files. Seat projections and forecasts are models, explained on each page, and never presented as results.
